Carol Michler Detmer, Ed.D.

Dr. Detmer is an associate professor and director of the Child Development Center. She completed her B.S. in Child Development from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Her M.A. from Western Kentucky University was in Child Development and Family Living. She completed an Ed.D. in Counseling and Guidance with Marriage and Family Therapy emphasis and comprehensive minor in psychology from Texas A & M - Commerce. Previous experiences include teaching kindergarten in the Chattanooga Public School system, and director of the Child Development Laboratory at Texas A & M - Commerce. She has also worked full-time in a Texas rural mental health clinic as an outpatient therapist doing both individual and family therapy. Prior to coming to MTSU, Professor Detmer was associate professor of Child and Family Studies at Northwest Missouri State University.
