Originally from Louisville, Kentucky, Dana Miller
received her interior design B.S. and M.S. degrees from Eastern Kentucky
University. For twelve years she practiced commercial interior design in
Ohio, Tennessee, and Virginia. During this time two of her projects
appeared in Contract, and Interior Design magazines. Her areas of
specialization include office, retail, hotel, restaurant, and bar
design. Ms. Miller served as Interior Design Program Director for Nashville’s Watkins Institute before coming to MTSU in 1992 where she holds the rank of Assistant Professor. She has presented on both a regional and national level. She teaches courses on construction, interior finishes, building codes, ADA design, business practices, office design, hospitality design, and retail design. Ms. Miller is NCIDQ certified and a Registered Tennessee Interior Designer. She is a member of ASID, IDEC, TIDC, and IIDA. Services to these professional organizations include CEU presentations, coordination of “Student Day” activities, conference coordinator, and a variety of board positions. Dana was one of the founding members of the Tennessee Interior Design Coalition, and participated in developing the Tennessee Interior Design Title Act. Since 1990 she has served on the TIDC board as secretary, newsletter editor, president, and past-president. She was awarded the Tennessee Chapter ASID Interior Design Award for Education in 2000, and the following year received the 2001 Education Award from the Tennessee Chapter International Interior Design Association. The Governor appointed Ms. Miller to serve as the interior design representative on the Tennessee State Board of Architectural and Engineering Examiners from 2004 - 2008. |
