Debra Collins Simpson, M.S.

Mrs. Simpson received her undergraduate degree from MTSU in Early Childhood Education, and her Master's of Education degree in Curriculum and Instruction from the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga. Mrs. Simpson taught in the Hamilton County School system for 13 years. She holds a State of Tennessee Professional teaching license and is certified to teach K through 8th grades. After returning to MTSU in 1991, she worked in the College of Education as a supervisor of student teachers. She also worked for the Office of Continuing Studies, assisting with the Elderhostel program. Mrs. Simpson joined the Human Sciences faculty in the fall of 1993, serving as an instructor and advisor in Early Childhood Education. She was selected Outstanding Human Sciences Instructor in 93-94, 94-95, and 95-96. In 1999, Mrs. Simpson became the Site Director of the Tennessee Early Childhood Training Alliance (TECTA) at MTSU. Through grant funding, TECTA provides training and financial assistancefor college coursework in early childhood education courses for child care providers across the entire state of Tennessee. The MTSU TECTA site serves sixteen counties in a consortium with Motlow State College and Columbia State Community College. |
