Professor Walker is a professor and Chair of the Human Sciences Department. She received her B.S. degree in Nutrition and Food Science at MTSU with an emphasis in dietetics. She completed a Dietetic Internship with an emphasis in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. Then, she finished her M. S. in Clinical Nutrition through the School of Allied Health Professions at UK. As a clinical dietitian, she worked with the end-stage renal disease and hemodialysis unit at UK Medical Center. She completed her Ph.D. in Nutrition at the University of Tennessee-Knoxville in 1986. Professor Walker has served as the President of the Nashville District Dietetic Association and was selected as the Outstanding Dietitian of the Year in 1989. She is currently serving on the Commission of Accreditation/Approval for Dietetic Education of the American Dietetic Association as a site visitor for accreditation of undergraduate dietetics programs. |
