| Professor McNaughton is the Graduate Program Coordinator for the department. She received her M. S. and Ph.D. in Nutrition with a double minor in Physiology and Food Science and Technology from Mississippi State University (MSU). Prior to joining the faculty at MTSU 11 years ago, she served as coordinator for the human nutrition graduate program at MTSU; also, she established and coordinated the master of science graduate program for the Home Economics Department at Mississippi University for Women. She teaches basic and applied nutrition courses and directs research for graduate students pursuing the master's degree with interest in the nutrition and food science concentration. Since Joining the faculty at MTSU, she has received extramural funding from a New York marketing firm to study snacking patterns on diet quality and from the Tennessee Attorney General's Office to study body weight status and diet quality of college students. Several graduate students have used data from the grants for thesis research.
Dr. McNaughton is a member of the American Dietetics Association and has consulted extensively with the food industry and child nutrition programs. She is part owner of Kaleidoscope Enterprises, Inc. where graphics are used to illustrate nutrition concepts for consumer segments and professional workshops.
