Lauren Rudd, MS Lauren Rudd is an instructor in the Textiles, Merchandising, and Design area. She earned her BFA in Art with an emphasis in Interior Design from University of Memphis. Ms. Rudd earned her MS from MTSU in Industrial Studies with a Computer Aided Design emphasis. She is currently working on an Ed. D. at Trevecca Nazarene University in Leadership and Professional Practice. Ms. Rudd is currently involved in two areas of research. The first is dealing with the relationship between learning design and individual problem solving abilities. The second area of research relates to multicultural education through traditional fiber arts. Ms. Rudd is an avid quilter and has been enthralled with fiber arts since childhood. Ms. Rudd’s areas of expertise are in the apparel design emphasis in Textiles, Merchandising, and Design. She teaches Basic Design, which is an introductory design class. She also teaches Computer Aided Apparel Design at both the basic and advanced levels. In addition to using the computers, Ms. Rudd enjoys teaching hand drawing skills in Fashion Illustration. She finds that through teaching both hand drawing and computer drawing, the students are encouraged to use the best method for the job—which may include a combination of the two. Ms. Rudd employs individualized instruction to assist her students in developing their best work. “It really makes a difference when the students are encouraged to work on projects they feel are applicable to real life; this causes them to excel, which results in pride in their work.” |
