Sandra Poirier

Dr. Sandra Poirier received her Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Family and Consumer Sciences Education from Florida State University and University of Arizona, respectively. Her Doctorate of Education was received in 1998 from Florida International University, Miami, Florida. Before coming to MTSU in the fall of 2005, Poirier was an assistant professor for three years at Zayed University, Dubai, United Arab Emirates. Zayed University was an all female, government university based on a U.S. academic model.
Dr. Poirier has a broad background in education with more than 15 years experience in public sectors located in culturally diverse international environments. Her strengths include creating innovative educational programs within a cultural context, identifying appropriate outreach efforts to solve problems with positive results. She has been recognized for her ability to work effectively building community partnerships towards a common goal, identifying appropriate resources, and creating educational strategies for positive outcomes. |
